In 1983 I was 4, which makes this probably one of my earliest memories all together, not just fandom-wise.
I have a cousin that's older than me that was the perfect age for Star Wars so besides the A-Team, Star Wars has been the fandom running longest through my life.
When Return of the Jedi was in the theater my parents took me to see something. I don't remember what it was. All I remember is afterwards while we were waiting for my cousin my dad, while holding me decided to peek into the theater where RotJ was playing.
And THIS was happening on screen:

Seeing that mask come off scared the holy living hell out of me. I still remember it perfectly. Even now almost 30 years later it still kinda gives me the Heebie Jeebies.
