OMG I could go into a 4548957 word spiel about the books, how amazing they are but I won't bore you. Lol. :) New Orleans was ok. The conference this year SUCKED. I was incredibly disappointed after the awesomeness that was last years. Everything outside of the conference was fun. Like getting the tattoo and eating hella good beignets at Cafe Beignets. Getting the jeepers creeped out of me when I went into the Voodoo shop for something for my friend T and the guy ended up telling me EXACTLY where she needed to put the charm even though I didn't tell him the trouble area of her house. O_o The driving SUCKED and I'm glad to be home. Plus damn I gotta finish this freaking 'Pardon Me' story FINALLY. There's one tiny part left and as always it's Face causing me issues. >_> How was your weekend? How's the roommate's dog?
Hehe, I will have to give it a try! I've only read one thing my King and it kind of put me off (Hearts of/in? Atlantis), but everyone keeps saying his other stuff is better.
Sorry to hear about the conference! Kind of a bummer that it was disappointing since it was the focus of the event. Did E's speaking thing go well though? Hopefully next year will be better! I'm still just a little jealous though. Beignets! <3 Though Voodoo creeps the shit out of me. Especially when stuff like that happens.
Yay for Pardon Me though! Tell Face to behave or we'll sick BA on him. xD And my weekend was busy. Spent all morning Saturday at an adoption event, where my roommate adopted a toy Aussie/dachshund mix. Very cute dog - 7 pounds and it's full grown - though it's really, really nervous. It does ok with my roommate because she spent all weekend with it, but it still thinks I'm going to kill it. I really hope it doesn't continue to dislike me, because it is going to make living with it a lot more difficult... *is a big dog fan* Sunday spent all day getting ready for my grandma's estate sale, which is this upcoming weekend. Have to go back tonight to help price all of my grandma's weird shit.
Oh god. I'm so sorry that Hearts in Atlantis was the only book you've read of his. Here's the thing. If you're gonna start reading his stuff start BEFORE he got hit by the van. SERIOUSLY. Lol. Like the van knocked all the SUPER good books out of him. The Dark Tower books are spectacular, even the not so good ones. The first one Gunslinger is good but my absolute favorite that I read a couple times a year is the second one in the series Drawing of the Three. Her thing went FANTASTIC. She had so many girls coming up and hugging her telling her thank you for voicing the fact that Stage 4 is scary but it's not the people who have it that you need to be scared of and you need to make sure your oncologist is fighting as hard as they would for early stage patients. I was very proud of her. OMG the voodoo thing was so creepy. Not to mention E got a reading done and the whole entire thing was about her changing jobs and how her job now is completely ruling her life in a miserable way. O_o Which is 100% true. She's a kindergarten teacher that on a daily basis is getting punched, bit, blood drawn from scratches and her administration does NOTHING. Me and E split a 3 thing of beignets with our breakfast and I was like SHIT I shoulda got my own and not worried about the stupid eggs. As much as he NEEDS BA to come after him... this scene is NOT where BA wants to be. Poor Bosco has been scarred by their nakedness once already and that's MORE than enough for him, thank you very much. LOL. Hehehe My parents got a dog this weekend too. Little Pug/Chihuahua mix. I'm sure it'll come around. It's just the whole new environment I'm sure. What kind of weird shit? Like cool weird shit? I love weird shit.
Hm, dully noted. Though I had no idea he actually got hit by a van... I guess it's a good thing he didn't get picked up by some random lady in the woods? xD I've seen "Misery" and "The Mist" as movies. The latter one I left about 20 minutes into since I don't do horror well. Hence why I suppose I haven't read much of his stuff! I'll look into Gunslinger though when I'm at the library next. Which is soon since my GRE book is due (damn it!).
Awwww, I haven't even met her and I'm proud of her! I'm so happy she found a good oncologist and had the strength to keep on going! She's pretty bad ass. :3 Though that job does not sound bad ass. I'm not a huge kid person, and even if I was I'd be o_O. Ugh. What a draining experience! Though I love how she teaches kids and you teach adults... xD
I hope it comes around. Gonna get old real fast to have it running from me. Also a bit 'ugh' because we're only allowed one pet, so my roommate's dog has the slot. *sigh* Oh well!
Some cool weird shit! Most of it is weird in that "Oh God, why?" kind of way though. Like her butter/margarine tupperware. She's saved the plastic tupperware supermarket margarine comes in case she needs them. But she saves all of them, so she has over 50 things of these stupid little plastic bins. And she's saved those, but threw out the 50th wedding anniversary tea cups we gave her a few years ago. I don't understand it!
Though some of it is weird shit in the cool way. We have four different harmonicas, silk pajamas from the 1950s, maybe 40s, my dad's old UFO club membership from when he was 11, a TON of books in French, three traveling trunks that came over from Europe in the 1940s, a cow bell from Switzerland my grandmother hand painted, and pretty much every 'special edition' book on birds that Reader's Digest ever sold, starting from the 1970s.
Oh yeah not big on horror then I can see why King wouldn't be on your top list of reads FOR SURE. The Dark Tower books are more fantasy than his straight out horror. Also another good book of his that's fantasy is Eyes of the Dragon. Gah, I remember being in middle school and having it taken away from me because I was reading in Math instead of paying attention. WHOOPS.
It's horrible. I've told her a million times that's the reason I DO teach adults because I'd have already been sent to jail for not only killing children but their good for nothing parents as well!
My grandma's house and shed is still so full of stuff that we'll probably NEVER got through. My aunt lives in my grandma's house and hasn't even started going through any of it even though we really should. There's all kinds of weird stuff like the bins. Oh man my grandma USED to have all the old National Geographics and stuff but when my aunt and her husband decided to "reno" the upstairs they threw them all away. They also threw away a paper with the front page headline about Bonnie and Clyde being killed. Apparently my aunt didn't think it was worth anything. WTF!? The worst part is they never finished the upstairs so it's just gutted and walled off. :( Which makes me so sad because I grew up living upstairs off and on most my life nad now it's just a shell.
Yeah, me and horror go together about as well as oil and water. I get scared easily. Those shows about haunted houses? Can't even watch the previews. It's pathetic. I watched that new ABC show, "The River"? Yeah, slept with my bed side light on. I blame the stupid moving dolls.
I think that just goes to show how much of a bad ass she is. Are you sure she isn't related to Chuck Norris? ;)
Aw man, if you were here, I would GIVE you all of my grandma's old National Geographics! We're getting rid of them there are so many! Are there any in particular you are looking for? I can look for you before the estate sale this weekend. That's sad about the newspaper though. That would have been cool to see! And also really, really sad about the upstairs. I'm gonna be sad to see my parents move out of the house they're in now for that reason!
Dude! Freaking moving dolls are terror from HELL! I can totally understand the need to sleep with a light on. Eyleen is TOTALLY related to Chuck Norris. Lol. She's hoping to get transferred to another school or what she really wants is to work with Hospital Homebound with the kids too sick to go to school. It'd be the perfect job for her because she knows what the kids are going through. OMG if you gave me all those NatGeo's E would kill us both. Lol. She already thinks I have too much crap. Oh man my aunt isn't going to be moving anytime soon but eventually years down the road I don't know what I'm gonna do. I swear I'll uproot everything to go live in that house so it doesn't leave the family.
Agreed! I also hate things moving on their own. Not. Funny. Seriously, if I ever buy a house? First thing I'm asking is "Is it or has it ever been haunted?" My realtor is going to hate me, but I just can't buy one if it has been. xD
Awww, that sounds like it would be a great job for her! Plus, you get to work with kids who probably won't bite. And if they do, you're right near medical supplies. How hard is it to get into that?
I'd do the same thing. Unfortunately, I will probably never be able to afford my parent's house, but still. I could rent it out to 12 billion people at once, right?
That's a very good question to ask your realtor! It's pretty hard to get into the program but we're hoping if she can get a medical transfer, which at this point with kids attacking her and pulling on her back when they try to climb her (which isn't good since she had lesions to the bones in her spine)hopefully it'll atleast be easy to get her out of the school she's in now. My grandma's house is so old it's super paid off so I'll just hang out for free. :D Though since it's already over 100 years old by the time I'd live in it it'd be close to 130 so it'd probably need MASSIVE even more so than now overhauls.
Totally a legit question. And if they think I'm nuts, I'll just also tell them I plan on having 4 billion cats, so it better have room. If I'm gonna scare them off, I'm gonna scare them off in style.
Man, it sounds like she's the perfect candidate! What are they thinking?! When does she hear back regarding that? I hope she gets out soon. It sounds like a crappy situation. :(
Dude, awesome! I'd consider moving into my grandmother's house for that reason if it wasn't on the opposite side of town that I need to be. I'd be able to get my hound dog then though...
I work up north, so my drive is about 30-40 minutes without heavy rush hour traffic. The house is down south from where I live right now, an extra 15 or so minutes away. So it would make my commute an hour long, though it is right by the freeway. We'll see. It depends on how much she's going to ask for rent on it.
Also, long ass meeting was long. And the guy presenting the project to us gave us "homework" - to create this template in the system. Which I'm cool with. I'm not cool with him assuming I'm going to blow off making the template until the day before it's due. Why would you say that?!
Eww yeah that is kinda long. I do not miss the commute. I live only 16 miles from my old job but on a good day it'd take 45 minutes to get to work because it was the center of town.
Wait did he say that specifically to you or everyone? WTF?
I have vacation next week, and this guy wanted to set up a follow up meeting next week. My coworker told him we'd need to make it the end of this week or on the 13th. The guy was like "Yeah, I'm cool with the 13th, but I'm hesitant to wait that long because I don't want you guys leaving this until the last minute." Seriously? What am I, twelve? He then proceeded to backtrack and talk about how he does that exact thing ("Actually, you know, I'm really super lazy so I'm the opposite. I like to do things early because I hate to have things on my plate.")
What a butthole. I hate people who know they've said something assholey and then try and cover it up but you're still like >_>
OMG Bradley Cooper's awful mustache has my sister in a fit of gags today. She keeps texting me about how horrible it was at the Oscars last night and I'm cracking up.
My sister was in FITS about it last night. She texted and I was like dude I'm driving and I can't find anything on my phone. I seriously think he does stuff on purpose to ruin his hotness.
Seriously. Who else would have an almost porn stache? And still look better than the average man? Though I'll admit, this particular stache is butt ugly.
