Yeah, I could see that. It's a pretty standard theme anywhere, though; you're surrounded by people who are exactly like you, and you get to stop being considerate (OT, but my current favorite example from work, somebody decided to start pronouncing the acronym for a briefing as "queer", and when I tried to point out to my boss that it was insulting, he just gave me this blank look and asked me who was going to care).
